Installation Instructions

- Qt 5.15.0
- KDE Frameworks 5.71
- KDE Plasma 5.19.2
- KDE Release-Service 20.04.2
- KDE/Qt Applications

KentOS is an extension for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 and compatible Enterprise Linux providing the complete set of Plasma Desktop, all development tools and tons of useful applications. It can also be packed onto the ISO Image of the Distribution and selected during install to have a clean KDE Desktop Environment right from the start. Qt Creator, KDevelop, Texmaker plus all of the latest Qt 5 series allow rapid setup of a development workstation for RHEL 8 and compatible with C/C++ and Python.

We are providing ISO images for the installation of the Operating Systems

- RedHat Enterprise Linux 8.2
- CentOS 8.2.2004
- Oracle Linux 8.2

that directly install KDE as the primary desktop together with third party add on installation options such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Teamviewer, VirtualBox 6.1 and Visual Studio Code.

Snap and FlatPak are supported by KDE's Plasma Discover so you can add any provided third party application after installation "out of the box".

For Developers, the Installation also contains a full set of Qt Development Tools for easy setup of a Qt/KDE Development Workstation right from the start together with Qt Creator and optionally KDevelop IDEs.

- CentOS 8.2.2004: Extract the newest ISO image file and flash to USB drive or CD, then install via Network install.
(see https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/loise/KentOS-8.2.2004_Installer_Image_ISO/ for the CentOS variant)

- RedHat Enterprise Linux 8.2
- Oracle Linux 8.2

ISO installer images are available upon request.
