Zcash - A peer-to-peer, privacy-centric, digital currency

Zcash is an open source peer-to-peer cryptocurrency aimed at using cryptography to provide enhanced privacy while facilitating selective transparency of transactions. Zcash transactions are published on a public blockchain, but private 'shielded' transactions allow for content to be encrypted using a zero-knowledge proof construction called a zk-SNARK. These constructions ensure the validity and fungibility of transactions as well as a secure ledger of balances without giving out any other information such as parties or amount involved.
