π§° virt-secureboot β Secure Boot Module Signing for VMware & VirtualBox on Fedora
This project provides a fully automated solution for signing VMware and VirtualBox kernel modules on systems with Secure Boot enabled (e.g. Fedora, RHEL-based distros).
It includes:
- β A main signing script that generates and enrolls MOK keys, rebuilds modules if needed, signs them, reloads, and restarts services.
- π A systemd service + timer that runs the signing process once after boot, ensuring modules remain signed after kernel or DKMS updates without hourly log spam.
- π©Ί A health check tool to verify Secure Boot status, key enrollment, and module signatures (with JSON output support for automation).
- π§Ό A clean uninstaller that removes systemd units, deletes enrolled MOK keys, cleans signing files, and optionally runs unattended with
--yes
. - π Optional FAQ and configuration templates for easier administration.
This setup ensures VMware/VirtualBox modules remain trusted by Secure Boot across kernel updates, while keeping journald logs clean and the process fully automatable.
