jdieter / dnf-zchunk

zchunk is a compressed file format that splits the file into independent chunks. This allows you to only download changed chunks when downloading a new version of the file, which makes zchunk a perfect fit for DNF metadata.

This repository provides zchunk-enabled librepo, which will download zchunked metadata if it's available.

Installation Instructions

WARNING: These packages replace system packages on your computer, and, if there are any bugs in them, your computer may be left in an un-updatedable state. Do not install these packages unless you have the original system packages available and are prepared to install them manually!

To install zchunk-enabled dnf on Fedora, enable the COPR repository as follows:

dnf copr enable jdieter/dnf-zchunk

Then update librepo and libdnf

dnf update librepo libdnf

To disable zchunk, set zchunk=False in /etc/yum.conf. Please note that only DNF seems to currently respect this setting.
