Description
This Repository contains unofficial builds of KeePassXC with the KeePassHTTP plugin enabled, but turned off by default (See section below on "Note about KeePassHTTP")
About KeePassXC
KeePassXC is a community fork of KeePassX, the cross-platform port of KeePass for Windows. Every feature is cross-platform and tested to give users the same feel on each operating system, including the loved auto-type feature.
Features over KeePassX
- Autotype on all three major platforms (Linux, Windows, OS X)
- Stand-alone password generator
- Password strength meter
- Use website's favicons as entry icons
- Merging of databases
- Automatic reload when the database changed on disk
- KeePassHTTP support for use with PassIFox in Mozilla Firefox and chromeIPass in Google Chrome or Chromium.
For a full list of new features and changes, have a look at the full KeePassXC changelog[1].
Note about KeePassHTTP
KeePassHTTP is not a highly secure protocol and has certain flaw which allow an attacker to decrypt your passwords when they manage to intercept communication between a KeePassHTTP server and PassIFox/chromeIPass over a network connection (see [2] and [3]). KeePassXC therefore strictly limits communication between itself and the browser plugin to your local computer. As long as your computer is not compromised, your passwords are fairly safe that way, but still use it at your own risk!
Warning: If you decide to build KeePassXC yourself with KeePassHTTP support, please make sure that it only listens to localhost (127.0.0.1) and not to any network-routable interface and especially not to 0.0.0.0!
