Description
This repo contains everything to upgradea RHEL 9 based OS to the latest Qt6, KF6, Plasma6 and Gears6 and other KDE/Qt programs and features.
KDE Plasma 6 and all other programs are compiled without kf6-kuserfeedback for privacy. kuserfeedback (kf5) and kf6-kuserfeedback can be uninstalled from your system.
The following main features are:
- sddm with x11 support
- kwin with x11 support
- plasma-workspace with x11 support
- plasma-discover with snap, fwupd, rpm-ostree, offline-updates
- appstream-data and appstream get updated from a RHEL installation to support plasma-discover
- plasma-nm with all plugins (ssh, iodine, vpnc)
Additional KDE Programs (Frameworks 5 or switched to Frameworks 6)
- ktechlab (Plasma 5) -cervisia (switched to Plasma 6)
Installation Instructions
For using X11, install kwin-x11, plasma-workspace-x11 and sddm-x11:
- yum swap sddm-wayland-plasma sddm-x11
- yum install kwin-x11
- yum install plasma-workspace-x11
To use sddm-x11, add this file
- /etc/sddm.conf.d/x11.conf with contents:
- [General]
- DisplayServer=x11
For ensuring that there is no userfeedback data sent, do:
- dnf copr enable loise/kde-plasma-6
- yum update
- yum erase kf6-kuserfeedback
- yum erase kuserfeedback
If it can't be removed, there is another dependency listed that should get rebuild without kuserfeedback. Currently affected are:
- plasma-workspace
- plasma-discover
- plasma-welcome (Runtime only)
- dolphin
- korganizer
- kaddressbook
- kate
- akregator
- pim-data-exporter
- pim-sieve-editor
