#xkeyboard-config files for French and Multilingual Keyboards for Côte d'Ivoire

Author: Boyd Kelly bkelly AT

The Côte d'Ivoire French keyboard (ci) is an exact replica of the French national azerty keyboard. The Côte d'Ivoire Multilingual keyboard (civ) is based on the French azerty keyboard, but provides additional unicode characters for Côte d'Ivoire local languages. It has been made from thorough consultation of the Togo, Nigeria, Mali, and noteably Cameroon Keyboards. It may be used to type Attié, Abbey, Baoulé, French, Gueré, Jula, Senoufo, Yacouba, and other local languages. Additional unicode characters are accessible in two ways.

#1. Pressing and holding the AltGr (+ Shift) key, and then the desired key in the table below.

#2. Pressing then releasing the ! key (on the azerty keyboard), and then pressing the appropriate key from the table below.

Method 1 can be very inconvenient especially with caps and when the key is on the right hand side of the keyboard. Method 2 allows much more fluid typing. Press the exclamation key twice to produce an exclamation mark.
